| Equalizer & DryBack Pads, made by SKITO, are a must have. They can be made to fit any saddle there is. You have the option of 100% wool, all poly fleece, or a wool/poly fleece blend for the underneath side. The top cover can be made from a variety of materials and colors as well as fleece. The outer cover has 2 pockets with velcro openings, so that you can remove the specialized foam inserts and launder the cover. The shape of the pad allows for plenty of wither clearance and reduces the chance of any pressure along the spine. Foam inserts are available in 1/2", 3/4" and 1" thickness. (Standard is 3/4".) The open-celled urethane foam absorbs up to 90% impact shock. The structure of the foam encourages moisture and heat absorption from the horse's back and thus aids in cooling. Shims can be added to the pockets to compensate for low spots, lift or a bridging problem. (PLEASE NOTE: While shims can be used to correct mild fit problems, nothing can correct a really poor fitting saddle. If that is the case, only a properly fitted saddle will solve your--and your horse's problem.) MORE ON THE FOAM: It's open-cell structure allows maximum air and water-vapor circulation, readily removing moisture from the back of the horse, and lessening heat and irritation. The pad "equalizes" the load pressure over the entire saddle-bearing area while absorbing over 90% of the shock of impact. As pressure is applied to the foam, air escapes--first from points of highest load pressure, then on down--until the complete load is more evenly distributed. The foam has 100% recovery rate, so you don't end up with a pad that is molded to one shape. So, as far as shock absorption, the pad is always like new. NEW OPTION!!
